Bashar is Free

Bashar is free
Or is he!

The country is detained
Stripped naked of its rights
All are hostages
Crumbled in fear

Fear for the future
Fear for our kids
Or even our older kin
Fear for our destiny

Under the ultraviolet lights
The bats are swaying
In the pitch of the darkened nights
Set and ready for the green light

The Grim Reaper is waiting
Scythe in hand
While the country is celebrating
Bashar is free

Who’s next
To pay the debts!
When will it be my turn!
When will it be yours!

It’s all just a matter of time
And time has mercy on no one

Will this nightmare ever
Be over
I wonder

I hate the mess and the tension we’re in. It is very similar to the pre 2/8 energy. We need a positive change soon!

I believe there has to be conflict before resolution. One of the shifts I’ve seen this past year alone is that people are actually ‘coming out’ and speaking about social issues. To me, that is an enormous step and the first step towards resolving this awful mess we have in our own backyard.

I love your recent poems. You are a talented, sensitive woman and Kuwait needs more like you.

In an interesting twist, check out this blog that addresses social issues in Kuwait (and more), I think you will like what you see:

    All the best.

I did not change the header image because I’m scared of the night bats, I changed it to display my lover’s eyes.

    فعلاً أطلق سراح بشار
وأصبح كل منا يحمل سجنه داخل قلبه.. صديقتي اشتقت لك
حسناً فعلتِ الكويت لم تعد تطاق

    أحبك:*

I liked your poem, and I like your blog, and I like your attitude towards truth seeking. It is tough seeking truth in a world full of religious zealots. Got to read some more of your posts.
