Dear Exzombie
They are not cages, the black one is a cart, and the white one is a fence. The cart is for his potty training and the fence to control him until he learns not to chew on dangerous stuff like electric wires. He’s teething now and that’s why he needs to be controlled. Once he’s trained he won’t need those.

Cute as a puppy
Demanding as an adult! He’s a hunter you know
needs long walks and water baths! But loyal and fun even when very old. Enjoy :*

Don’t forget the frisbie. They don’t call him a retriever for nothing.
Try to avoid places with ponds that have ducks, unless you are willing to put up with a muddy puppy.
Retrievers love to chase ducks.
Enjoy!

I guess French poodles are much easier to handle, this boy is growing by the day and he’s very active. He already changed my life style, now he has the priority in my daily schedule. And no he’s not house broken yet, he’s almost nine weeks now and I am trying my best. But if it did not work I would have to take him to specialists for training. So far he’s been good with his potty training, although he has lapses, which the Vet says is normal for his age.
Thanks sweetie for your well wishes.

Ah… tell me about being demanding, I have been on my feet ever since he arrived, good exercise though, so no complains. And since he’s a retriever so I guess that means a good hunter. As for walk, I live in a pet-friendly environment where they have special accommodation for pets, like high fenced borders and dog-park inside the complex, besides; across the street where I live there is a beautiful park with lakes and ducks, I took him yesterday for his first long walk and he loved it, I did too. Actually, I did not know how big was the park until yesterday, so the walk was good for both of us. As for the bath, I noticed that he loves water, yesterday after the walk I gave him a bath and he was OK with it, but I have a problem with his drinking water since he keeps splashing it with his paws and I have to clean after him and put fresh water in his bowl whenever he does that. And I don’t know about his loyalty cause he keeps folowing every moving object in the street…LOL
But that’s OK since people here just love him and stop especially to pet him and cuddle him (he’s good at that too), he’s already spoiled.

Sharqawi honey
Guess what? He’s scared of ducks and ducks are not scared of him LOL. May be because his size, some are larger than him. And I got him the soft Frisbee, the one made of fabric but he still does not know how to grab it in his mouth yet. He’s good with balls or anything that bounces. I just got back from another long walk and I’m exhausted while he’s still active and wants to play. He’s so energetic, it’s amazing.
By the way; I got him from a breeder, both his parents are show dogs.

He’s so cute! How did you come up with his name? Sparky is missing you and “barking” hello!
AyyA // June 5, 2009 at 12:32 am |
Hey Talool habeebi

Moe chose the name; he thought it’s cool
Doesn’t he remind you of Fatso when he was a puppy?
I missed Sparky too
And you as well

Hey Christina, been a long time, glad to see you here
Duke has been a therapeutic addition to the family; he’s just loveable and willing to learn. So far he’s been good with potty training, he sits and stays in his place often when ordered. He also shakes hands. But the problem I’m facing is his urge to nip on anything on the ground (you never know; some of the things he picks could be dangerous). The other day I had to pull off some deteriorated dead meat out of his mouth by literary opening his jaws. Yuk, that thing left a reeking smell on my palm all day no matter how many times I washed it. I do realize that he’s teething, and trying hard to be patient and quench his urge with flavored bones. And this Tuesday after he takes his second shot he’ll start his obedience, eight weeks, one hour/week class. Luckily he’s not always a bad boy, in general he’s a good socializer; both with other dogs and people. And he loves treats and toys and praise. So I thing, in general, he’s easy to train, although as you said needs a lot of patience. And my; he’s growing so fast.
